Hampshire’s cricket starved supporters will be able to watch the county’s Academy side in action from July 18 – but they’ll have to hop into their cars and make the trip to Alton to see them.

With the Ageas Bowl hosting international matches throughout the summer, the Academy will play all their upcoming 40-over matches in the Southern Premier League Cup away from their normal Nursery Ground headquarters.

They will play eight matches in the League Cup which got the go ahead when the government gave the all-clear for recreational grass roots cricket to resume following its earlier suspension due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.

It has been introduced to provide the county’s leading club sides with competitive cricket during the second half of the season.  It will run for a period of nine weeks until September 12, with the divisional winners playing a final on September 19.
